What Is A Supreme Life?

About Supreme Life Blog And How It Came To Be

What is a “Supreme Life?”

Girl, I’m so glad you asked! So, before I get into my definition of what I think a Supreme Life is or what that looks like, I need to give a little background.

In Spring of 2016 I became a member of the illustrious sisterhood, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Kappa Upsilon Chapter. I was given the line-name Supreme, which is very befitting given my testimony and how I strive to live my life in general.

According to dictionary.com, “Supreme” has various definitions when used as an adjective. However, the ones that stood out to me most were the following:

  1. of the highest quality, degree, character, importance, etc.

  2. greatest, utmost, or extreme:

Now, we’ve all seen the phrase, “Living my best life,” being used in captions of captivating pictures across various social media platforms. And it’s even made its way into music (shoutout to Cardi and Chance). But, we know this is the phrase normally used when someone is posting vacation pictures, achieving goals, etc. I kept this phrase in mind when brainstorming about what to name the blog, because at the end of the day, I feel as though that’s what we’re all aiming to do. And as I began to reflect on where I currently am in life and where I want to be, I came to the conclusion that one of my main goals is to live a life of high quality. I want to live the BEST, best life that I can.

When I say “high quality”, I’m meaning a holistic life. In all aspects; spiritually, financially, physically, mentally, etc. I’m aiming for the highest level of fulfillment in all of those areas. I’m intentionally using the word “aim,” because I don’t want the idea of striving to live a Supreme Life to be this thing of  thinking we have to reach perfection, because we won’t ever be perfect in all of those areas. But I believe if you have some sort of benchmark to measure your efforts against, it’ll help you stay focused.

There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”

-Ernest Hemingway

It’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s Supreme Life will look different, because God has called us all to do and experience different things. But if you’re striving for the highest level  of fulfillment with regard to what His portion is for you, that’s all that matters.

I’m super excited for what’s in store and to have you beautiful ladies along for the ride.
